The news has been all over the place! BTDG just acquired popular fitness brand Spartan Fitness – you’ve seen the headlines! BTDG (B2 Digital or B2), a live event sports company that focuses largely on MMA events and fitness facilities that supports fighters in the industry, is quickly establishing itself as a premier presence in the Sports Events Industry through the world of MMA events and fitness facilities acquisitions. There is much promise for this company in this sector, particularly in the areas of acquisitions, events revenue, and sponsorships.
According to Verified Market Research (Jan 6, 2022), “the Global Events Industry Market size was valued at USD 886.99 Billion in 2020 and is projected to reach USD 2,194.40 Billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 13.48% from 2021 to 2028.” Further, per Research Dive/May 2021, “acquisition and business expansion among market players, along with growth in…events…are anticipated to drive the growth of the events industry.” Live sports events and the associated fitness facilities that support their participants is one aspect of this sector, and enter BTDG…..a dominant force in the MMA live sports development arena, doing just what Research Dive posited – acquisitions and expansion. Through acquiring Spartan Fitness, BTDG is expanding their MMA reach into the Jiu-Jitsu world and establishing significant physical and market presence through the brands.
Reality bites; the high operational costs of live sports development and management does restrain overall growth a bit, however, innovation and expansion drive exponential revenue growth, and BTDG has already doubled their bottom line on the fitness facility line in their balance sheet this past month with their recent acquisition of Spartan Fitness. Too, there is tremendous potential for companies in this sector particularly where it concerns sponsorships. Can you even remember a time when watching sports of any type did NOT involve corporate sponsorships? Even little league features players wearing -t-shirts emblazoned with sports sponsorships.
So with BTDG and Spartan Fitness coming together and growing their presence both in terms of MMA event staging (now going into the Jiu-Jitsu arena), and fitness facilities acquisitions/ownership, all we have is potential, potential, potential – it is limitless, really. With Greg P. Bell at the helm of the BTDG team, and now being joined by Chris Conolley from Spartan Fitness, into the executive management team – I expect to see big things from this company. Eyes best be watching!
